Global design company walks their talk on the environment

Populous, the global company specialising in the design of sport and entertainment venues, believes in looking after the natural environment and their own personal environment too. The company offsets the carbon footprint of staff travel as they fly around Australia and the world, designing sports venues from the new Gold Coast Stadium and the Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin, to London’s 2012 Olympic stadium. Populous has been contributing to Carbon Neutral’s tree planting projects in Australia since 2007. The projects will sequester greenhouse gas emissions over time and achieve multiple environmental outcomes in Australia.

 
A re-look at climate change - The Garnaut Review 2011

altProfessor Ross Garnaut was commissioned by the Australian Government to conduct an independent study of the impacts of climate change on the Australian economy. The Review's Final Report was released on 30 September 2008. The Report analysed the science of climate change, expected impacts, global action and proposed policy frameworks to meet the challenge in Australia.


Professor Garnaut has now been commissioned again by the Government to provide an update to his 2008 Climate Change Review for the Australian community. The Review is being released through a series of papers in early 2011 addressing developments across a range of subjects including climate change science and impacts, emissions trends, carbon pricing, technology, land and the electricity sector. A final report is to be presented to the Government by 31 May 2011.

Over the past few years we have seen some dramatic and often tragic displays of how potent mother nature can be, with some of the worst fires in Australia's recorded history, unprecedented flooding throughout areas of Australia and snow storms that have enveloped many parts of the Northern hemisphere.  The question we are asked often at Carbon Neutral is... is this a result of climate change.
